45 Self Care Tips for 2018

Here are some self-care tips I’m taking into 2018, to live more mindfully and meaningfully and hopefully some of these will help you do that too. 45 is a lot to take in, so if you did want to try some of these I’d suggest choosing a few that speak to you and incorporate them into your daily routine to start off with, then gradually look at more when the others become habit.

  1. Always tell the truth
  2. Exfoliate your skin weekly
  3. Drink green tea daily
  4. Don’t over think – things happen for a reason
  5. Always remove makeup and cleanse/moisturise face before bed
  6. Make time for the people you love, you’re never too busy for that
  7. Pick your arguments carefully
  8. Read the news daily
  9. Read more factual books, you can never learn too much
  10. Make a feel good playlist
  11. Do not regret
  12. Do not wish you hadn’t done things – learn your lesson and move on
  13. Exercise for 30 minutes daily (even just a brisk walk)
  14. Write down your thoughts before bed
  15. Never compare yourself to others
  16. Drink 2-3 litres of water a day
  17. Don’t gossip
  18. Dedicate time to stay away from social media, turn notifications off if you’re not waiting for an important message
  19. Meditate/relax daily, even if it’s only for 10 minutes
  20. You will never grow if you stay stuck in the past
  21. Keep your room tidy, it keeps your head clear
  22. Inhale the good and exhale the bad
  23. Compliment people more, it’s good karma
  24. Push yourself out of your comfort zone, it’s how we grow
  25. Appreciate and be with nature
  26. Take time to help somebody who needs it
  27. Don’t waste money – buy small treats weekly to avoid splurging
  28. Use the 3 month rule – if you haven’t used/worn something in 3 months donate it to charity
  29. Don’t complain about something if you aren’t going to make an effort to change it
  30. Limit yourself to one TV episode a day
  31. Take a multi-vitamin daily
  32. Write songs or poetry, nurture your creative side
  33. Check in with your emotions – sit quietly and feel
  34. Purge negative people from your life
  35. Maintain and nurture your spirituality
  36. Trust you intuition
  37. Cherish good friends
  38. Forgive yourself and forgive others, let go of past mistakes
  39. Take photographs
  40. Allow yourself to feel, all feelings are normal, blocking them out will only bring you more turmoil, feel them, learn to deal with them and move on
  41. Shop at charity shops, you will save money, find cute unique things and help others
  42. Do mundane tasks mindfully, when washing the dishes concentrate on the smell of the soap, the temperature of the water, keep in touch with your senses
  43. Be creative and passionate
  44. Dedicate Sundays to planning, relaxing and being creative
  45. Cut down on alcohol to the very bare minimum
